Join us for an evening of celebration and food at our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 17, at 6 p.m. in Hauser Hall. Children are encouraged to bring a "float" for the Mini Mardi Gras Parade. We encourage you to decorate your floats before arrival, but will be also be providing Mardi Gras supplies for children to craft masks and decorate floats during the pancake supper. This is a wonderful evening for the whole community and we encourage you to bring family and friends to enjoy the fun! Recommended donations are $5 per person or $20 per family at the door.
Join St. Mark's for Ash Wednesday services on February 18 at 7 a.m., noon, or 7 p.m. The first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at Ash Wednesday services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, and may be imposed with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday is observed as a fast in the church year of the Episcopal Church. The Ash Wednesday service is one of the Proper Liturgies for Special Days in the BCP (p. 264).
